What is BottleClub?
An app to get to know wine the way you would with friends: short lessons, tasting with a glass in your hand, and a cellar for the bottles you liked. Step by step, you find out what you like.
Is BottleClub a kind of Duolingo for wine?
A bit. Like Duolingo, you learn in short lessons of a few minutes, with something to tap and a question or two. But wine is also about tasting: BottleClub walks you through your own glass and remembers what you thought of it. BottleClub is an app of its own and isn’t connected to Duolingo.
Do I need to know about wine already?
No. You start where you are: if you already know a thing or two, you skip what you know. Words like tannins and acidity are simply explained.
Is BottleClub free?
Yes. For free you can learn every day with 20 energy (about 4 lessons), keep up to 50 wines in your cellar and taste as much as you like. BottleClub Plus lets you learn without limits and keep every bottle, without ads.
How do the lessons work?
A lesson takes a few minutes: one idea, something to tap and a few questions. Wrong isn’t a problem: you see straight away why, and have another go. Each chapter ends with a short wrap-up.
Can I use it with friends?
Yes. Add friends by their username. You decide what you share with them; your tasting notes stay yours unless you choose to share them.
Do I need to drink a lot of wine to learn?
No. You learn more from one glass with attention than from a whole bottle. Many lessons don’t need a glass at all, and tasting is about noticing, not about how much.
Where can I download BottleClub?
BottleClub is in the App Store, for iPhone. Android comes later: leave your email on this page and we’ll email you once, as soon as it’s on Google Play.
Which languages is BottleClub in?
Dutch and English. You can switch in the app whenever you like.
